Incised relief carving

The courses I will be running in the future will be for the instruction of students to learn how to carve in relief in slate.
The delicate nature of this material enables the craftsperson to create amazing detail very simply and to great effect.
First time students will work on incised relief and the more experienced can attempt the more time consuming raised relief.
It always saves time if students can have an idea of the project they wish to attempt prior to starting the course. This can be arranged through correspondence between us.

The courses will be arranged for 3 Days (Fri-Sun). This gives students opportunity to settle in and time for me to cover all aspects of the work in detail.

A list of reasonable cost local accomodation will be provided to all students.
Tea and coffee on tap but meals are not provided, however, there are a wide range of take-aways in town, and homemade pub grub is easily found.

Please note that no prior experience is necessary.
 
During the three days I will instruct you on tool skills and use of the materials.
 
You will learn all the practical skills required to work, enabling you to develop your skills at your leisure once the course is over.
 
All tools will be provided for you to carry out your projects whilst at the workshop and a comprehensive tools list will be talked through during your instruction.
